Monique Kostelac

When Monique first started her degrees in a Bachelor of Law/Bachelor of International Studies, she thought she wanted to be the next Amal Clooney. Now, as it turns out, she was more aligned with the path of George.

Monique is passionate about storytelling, especially with Croatian stories. When she was 11, she remembers complaining about how Greeks, Italians and other nationalities had countless movies, TV shows and books about them, but there was next to nothing on Croatians.  To quote, she said: "Greeks and Italians and Russians have all these stories about them - but where's the My Big Fat Croatian Wedding?". At that point, she realised that she had two choices: either stop complaining or do something about it. She chose the latter.

Monique is a novel writer and screenwriter as well as actress. She also runs her creative writing business - The Novel Writing Project - where she helps other aspiring writers build the audacity to pursue their own writing dreams.

Alongside helping behind the scenes at AUSNZ Croatian Women in Leadership, Monique is also the social media manager of The Croatian Project.
